Crypto exchange Gate.io has rolled out a suite of yield products aimed at holders of stablecoins and major cryptocurrencies, promising annual percentage rates as high as 4.0% with flexible access and no fees on redemptions.
The centerpiece is a 3.8% APR on Gemini’s GUSD stablecoin. Users who hold GUSD on the exchange qualify for that rate, with no lock-up period and zero redemption fees, the company said in an announcement Thursday. The offer is open-ended, though Gate.io did not specify a cutoff date.
For larger holders, a VIP-tier USDT product is available at a 4.0% APR. That rate is advertised as limited-time, meaning the promotion could expire at any point. Both the GUSD and VIP USDT yields are paid out directly in the same asset, the exchange said.
Separately, Gate.io’s Launchpool platform now lets users stake USDT, BTC, ETH or GUSD without a minimum requirement. Launchpool typically distributes newly issued tokens as rewards, offering an additional return on top of the base yield. The exchange did not disclose the current pool’s projected APR or the specific token being farmed.
The moves come as the broader crypto market struggles for direction, with Bitcoin and Ether trading in narrow ranges. Yield products on stablecoins have become a key retention tool for exchanges, letting them compete for idle capital that might otherwise sit in cold storage or migrate to decentralized finance protocols.
Gate.io’s combined pitch – earn 3.8% on GUSD, 4.0% on VIP USDT, and stack Launchpool rewards on top – is designed to let users “balance liquidity and high returns,” the announcement said. The exchange is also promoting its native Gemini Dollar minting facility as a direct on-ramp to the yield program.
The real test for traders will be whether the rates hold up over time. VIP USDT’s 4.0% APR, in particular, is explicitly temporary. Users looking to lock in that return should check the product’s end date on Gate.io’s Simple Earn page.
